Design firm fosters sense of community, team well-being in office renovation
The Shaw Contract Community collection of carpet tiles, broadloom, and rugs was inspired by the belief that design can foster connection by creating spaces that bring people together.

Design Firm OTJ Architects created and embraced this same vibrant sense of community by renovating a client’s 14,000 square foot workplace in response to the post-COVID-19 era. The goal: adapt the confidential Healthcare Association’s physical space to meet the needs of an evolving workforce, prioritizing the well-being of a diverse team.

The renovated workplace enhances staff and visitor experiences with thoughtful design, including a glass-fronted lobby leading to a biophilic reception area. A state-of-the-art boardroom featuring a central custom circular table encourages an exchange of ideas and diversity of thought.
Shaw Contract carpet tile, broadloom and rugs enhance acoustics, space functionality
Method broadloom and Exchange carpet tile ground the lobby, boardroom and public spaces with rich texture and plushness in timeless neutral tones. Back Weave and Flat Weave carpet tile brings tactile depth, comfort and warmth to reconfigurable spaces that support diverse work styles. Amenities such as a soundproof café, catering pantry, prayer and mothers’ rooms, further enhance diversity of space.

Shaw Contract broadloom, carpet tile and rugs foster zoning while enhancing acoustics and space functionality in the redefined workplace. The blend of flooring textures and patterns distinguish areas for collaboration, relaxation, and work, creating visual boundaries without physical barriers.
Rich textures and a subtle color palette enhance the biophilic and welcoming atmosphere. The project achieved WELL Gold certification, prioritizing inclusivity, practicality, and wellness in the office design.

Behind the design: Community collection gives designers unlimited carpet choices, meeting demands of the modern workplace
The Community collection was created to work together in harmony. Each of its four core products complement the others— with textured and plush carpet tile, broadloom available as rugs, and hard surface—giving designers unlimited choices to meet the demands of a new workplace.
The variety of carpet tile, broadloom and rug styles in the Community collection offers flexibility to layered diverse environments. Inspired by weaving communities in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, Exchange Tile explores the lines and movement that change in the weaving of fabric.
