Color with Purpose: Iconic Dye Lab featured in Project Color Corps NeoCon POP-UP 2025

At NeoCon 2025, Shaw Contract partnered with Project Color Corps to bring a vibrant vision to life in Chicago’s THE MART. The POP-UP installation, designed to inspire equity, joy and belonging through color, featured the iconic Shaw Contract Dye Lab carpet. Shaw Contract Dye Lab as a centerpiece of design intention and emotional resonance.

The space was designed in collaboration with Marianne Starke, a Project Color Corps Chicago chapter member and Design Director & Senior Associate with Gensler Chicago.

A Canvas of Color and Community

The Dye Lab collection, known for its rich, naturally inspired hues, set the tone for the immersive environment. Floor-to-ceiling color films reflected powerful color quotes across mirrored walls, bathing the space in radiant light and meaning. The carpet’s organic dye-inspired palette grounded the installation in warmth and authenticity, inviting NeoCon 2025 visitors to experience the emotional power of color firsthand.

This collaboration was more than aesthetic; it celebrated color’s ability to transform communities, especially those historically underserved by design. Project Color Corps led designer Laura Guido-Clark, champions neuroaesthetics and inclusive design, bringing color to schools, playgrounds and public spaces from Oakland to Detroit.

The iconic Shaw Contract Dye Lab inspiration draws from natural dye sources like madder root, Osage orange, Sandalwood and Saxon, creating a palette that mimics the organic shifts found in naturally dyed textiles. For more than a decade, Dye Lab has been specified in global commercial interiors from workplace to higher education and beyond.
