Cradle To Cradle®

Shaw Contract has been actively engaged in Cradle to Cradle design for more than 20 years, introducing the first Cradle to Cradle Certified™ flooring product in 1999.

The power for positive change is in our hands.

Our products provide the foundation for spaces where thinkers innovate, students learn, patients heal and travellers rest. We believe sustainability encompasses not only the environmental health of our products and our operations, but also how our products impact human experience.

Cradle to Cradle® provides a multifaceted design philosophy that aligns with Shaw Contract’s sustainability priorities. Through the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Products Program, Shaw Contract obtains third-party assessment and validation of its performance against key sustainability attributes including—material health, material reuse, renewable energy, water stewardship, and social responsibility.

The Cradle to Cradle Design Philosophy

Shaw Contract has been actively engaged in Cradle to Cradle® design for more than 20 years and created the first Cradle to Cradle Certified™ flooring product.

Founded by sustainability thought leaders William McDonough and Michael Braungart, the Cradle to Cradle Design™ philosophy provides an industry-leading framework for us to design products that mimic nature’s plan for materials to serve as nutrients circulating in healthy, safe cycles.

The Five Pillars of Cradle to Cradle

The Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Program ensures our products are made from ingredients the standard deems safe and healthy.

We want it back. Shaw will transport and recycle EcoWorx tile or broadloom carpet at no cost to our customers through our re[TURN] program.

Shaw’s commercial carpet manufacturing operations worldwide are carbon neutral and we offer carbon neutral product collections.

Water is an essential substance of life. At Shaw, water is treated as a valuable and precious resource. We are focused on both water quality and water quantity.

We support fair labour and human rights principles. No matter where or by whom a product or ingredient is made, operations are held to the same high standards.
